Orion was a giant hunter of Greek mythology. Naturally this made him a perfect companion for Artemis. They became great friends and often accompanied each other on hunts. Artemis' twin brother Apollo did not approve of the relationship. One day when he walked upon the beach with his sister, he challenged her to hit a mark he saw far in the sea with her bow and arrow. Apollo secretly knew that Orion was swimming to Crete, and the mark was his head. Artemis accepted the challenge and hit her mark, killing her own friend. When she discovered what she had done, she immortalized Orion by putting him in the stars.

These earrings are made with 14KT gold filled chain, hand-made beads, and crackle glass beads. They measure 3 3/4" in length and have 14KT gold fill earwires.
